For the final episode of season 1 of Aubrey Marcus Podcast Books I am reading a poem called “The Return” from the book Devotions by Mary Oliver. The poem focuses on a lesser known, but equally important aspect of the story of Theseus and the Minotaur. It doesn’t highlight the hero’s battle which has been written about for a millennia, but instead Mary Oliver chooses the hero’s return out of the maze. In a few simple words, Mary Oliver delivers fundamental human truths and this really highlights that which makes poetry such a unique medium.
